Join us for this hybrid in-person/zoom & in Spanish book talk with Dr. Itza Amanda Varela Huerta (UAM-X) and her recently published book, Tiempo de diablos: usos de la cultura y el passado en el proceso de construcción étnica de los pueblos negros afromexicanos (CIESAS, 2023). The book discusses the political process and emergence of the Afro-descendant movement in Mexico, which began in the late 1990s in the Costa Chica region of Guerrero and Oaxaca.
