Carrying Our Ancestors Home, a project founded by UCLA’s American Indian Studies Center and the Fowler Museum under the directorship of Dr. Mishuana Goeman and Dr. Wendy Teeter, seeks to illuminate how Native people regard various aspects of the Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act ) and the work they do to enact and enforce it. Based on collaborations with Native cultural practitioners, tribal members, professionals, and academics in the Southern California area, this digital educational resource provides guidelines about repatriating ancestral remains and cultural items.
