California Native American Day is celebrated on the fourth Friday of September. This state holiday serves not only to recognize tribal people but also to teach about California tribal cultures, histories, and heritage. UCLA’s American Indian Studies Center is delighted to commemorate California Native American Day by hosting a Zoom talk with Alan Salazar.

As a descendant of the Ventureno Chumash and Fernandeno Tataviam, Alan is from the Chumash village of Ta’apu, (Simi Valley) and the Tataviam village of Chaguayanga (Castaic). Join us for an afternoon to hear more about the Chumash and Fernandeno Tataviam Band of Mission Indians.
