Itza Amanda Varela Huerta \nUniversidad Autónoma \nMetropolitana Xochimilco (UAM-X)\n\nEs profesora-investigadora en la UAM-X y doctora en Ciencias Sociales por la misma institución. De 2020 a 2023 fue investigadora en el Centro de Estudios de Género de El Colegio de México y realizó una estancia posdoctoral en el CIESAS-Pacifico Sur, Oaxaca. Su investigación aborda racismo, procesos politicos de comunidades negras-afromexicanas, feminismos, estudios culturales y critica poscolonial. Publicó Tiempo de Diablos (CIESAS, 2023) y actualmente explora la relación entre productos audiovisuales, género y racismo en telenovelas y cine realizado por mujeres\nindígenas y negras-afromexicanas.\nJoin us for this hybrid in-person/zoom & in Spanish book talk with Dr. Itza Amanda Varela Huerta (UAM-X) and her recently published book, Tiempo de diablos: usos de la cultura y el passado en el proceso de construcción étnica de los pueblos negros afromexicanos (CIESAS, 2023).
