DESCRIPTION:\nDerived from the word ‘whānau’, or family, Whanaungatanga is about building relationships and making connections. Join us for an afternoon featuring a haka performance and presentation by a delegation of Māori warriors and performers from Te Reikura and Te Rōpū Kahurere visiting Los Angeles to share and connect us with their culture.\n\n\nTe Reikura and Te Rōpū Kahurere are a passionate group of women who want to positively share their love of Māori music (waiata), joy of kapa haka as a social group, and cultural knowledge with their own communities and the wider world. Members of both groups reside in Auckland, Gisborne, Taupo, The Rangitikei, Dannevirke, Otaki, Porirua, Wellington, Nelson and Christchurch (New Zealand) and Perth (Australia).\n\n\nThis program is co-sponsored by the American Indian Studies Center at UCLA\n\n\nWhanaungatanga\n\n
