SUMMARY:Special Event: Apache Stronghold and the Historic Preservation and Archaeology Department of the San Carlos Apache Tribe
DESCRIPTION:Special Event: Apache Stronghold and the Historic Preservation and Archaeology Department of the San Carlos Apache tribe join us for a special event to share their struggle to protect the sacred site of Chi’chil Biłdagoteel (Oak Flat) from the mining giant Rio Tinto/Resolution Copper. Emblematic of the struggle of Indigenous Peoples across the Americas, Apache Stronghold has been in multiple forms of direct and legal action. Their case to prevent mining on sacred lands will be heard by the full U.S. Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals on March 21. Co-sponsored by the AISC and the Native Nations Law and Policy Center.\n \n
